Obituaries

The death of Jeanne Marie Theriault of Foyer Assomption, Rogersville, NB and formerly of Miramichi, NB, occurred on Wednesday, March 8th, 2023, at the age of 93. Born in Paquetville, NB she was the daughter of Clement and Marie (Brideau) Duclos. She was employed at the former Miramichi Hospital for 25 years as a Laundry Attendant and proud past President of CUPE Local 865. Known to many as the “Lady from Paquetville” she was a progressive thinker, with a keen interest in the labor movement and politics. The pinnacle of her interest in politics leading her to represent the NDP Party in two regional elections.
Jeanne is survived by her daughters: Rose Theriault-Matchett ( Vic), Dianne Theriault (Derrick Hennessy) of Miramichi, NB and Jeanette Bruce (John) of Edmonton, AB and sons: Maurice (Anna) of Moncton, NB and Paul Emile Theriault (Anne) of Bathurst, NB and Daniel Theriault (Collette) of Beresford, NB; brothers: Yvon Duclos of Rogersville, NB and Rheal Duclos (Gilberte) of Riviere-du-Loup, PQ and grandchildren: Angela, Paul “Jr”, David, Christina, Andrew, Marc, Andre, Lise, Krystle, Kelly Ann, Michelle, Francois and Janice as well as several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Jeanne is predeceased by her brothers: Paul, Roger, Severin, Jean and sister Lise Black, daughter-in -law: Lucille and granddaughter Martine and step-mother Alice Duclos.
The family will receive visitors on Sunday, March 12th from 2pm to 4pm and Monday, March 13th from 12:45pm to 1:45pm, followed by a celebration of life from the Sterling Bell Memorial Chapel, 651 King George Highway, Miramichi, NB at 2pm with Father Claude Daigle officiating.
