Mildred was a homemaker in Esgenoôpetitj who loved to play bingo, drink her tea, and watch her daytime soaps. She loved to joke and laugh, and always told it how it was. She is a residential school survivor and loved attending the Pow Wow to hear the songs and drum.
Mildred is survived by her children: Renelda (Andrew), Bernard (Priscilla), Geoffrey, David, Connie (Lindsay), Cynthia (Arnold), Sandra (Richard), Wendy (Sabine), Carl, and Lance of Esgenoôpetitj, NB; three sisters: Dorothy Googoo (Ryan C.), Marie Sylliboy (Grand Chief Ben Sylliboy), and Sarah Sylliboy (Cecil), and brothers: all of We’koqma’q, NS; thirty two grandchildren, fifty great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Mildred also helped raise many children who needed a home.
She would always proudly say she raised 14 children. She had a huge heart and her door was always open. She also leaves behind her best friend Emily Johnson.
She also loved her pets so much. She always made sure there were pets in the house. She loved her dog Tiny as well as all her cats. She had such a soft spot for animals all her life.
Besides her partner and parents, Mildred is predeceased by children: Gloria (Wendall), Tina (William), and Wilfred, Wayne; brothers: Bernie, Lawrence, and James and sister: Alexandrine of We’koqma’q NS; and first husband Harry Narvey of Esgenoôpetitj, NB, Grandson Kevin, and great grandson Baby Narvey.
The family will receive visitors at her residence 10 Diggle Point Road, Esgenoôpetitj, NB starting on Thursday, March 16, 2023, after 2 PM and again on Friday, March 17, 2023. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at 11 AM. Interment will be in the parish cemetery at a later date.
