Obituaries

The death of Olive Catherine (O’Donnell) Savoy wife of the late Frederick Robert Savoy, formerly of Barnaby River, NB, occurred on Friday, July 14, 2023, at Bridgeview Hall, Miramichi, NB at the age of 80. Born in Newcastle, NB, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Anna (Dawson) O’Donnell.
She began her working career as a secretary and later in life pursued a career as a dog groomer and breeder. Olive had a great passion for all animals. She was proud to rescue a Greyhound from Florida, which was an accomplishment that was published in the local paper. Her love of animals extended to people as well, as she was a loving foster parent. In her spare time she enjoyed sewing, crocheting, knitting and quilting.
Olive is survived by daughter: Daphne Savoy of BC and son: Steven Savoy of Burnt Church, NB; sisters: Phyllis Preston (Bernie) of Napan, NB; Linda Gallant (Roy) of Moncton, NB; Rose Coughlan (Dean) of Barnaby, NB; Donna Mills (Mike) of Barnaby, NB; Gabrielle O’Hearn (Harvey) of Barnaby, NB; Frances Doyle (Leo) of Barnaby, NB; brothers: Eddie O’Donnell (Evelyn)
of Barnaby, NB; Norman O’Donnell of Chatham, NB; three grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
Olive is predeceased by sister: Mary Lou Casey and brother, Jackie O’Donnell. The family will receive visitors at Jardine Funeral Home on Wednesday September 13,2023, from 6-8 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church on Thursday, September 14, 2023 at 2PM. Interment for Olive and her husband Frederick will follow the mass in St. Mary's Roman Catholic Cemetery. A reception and time of sharing memories will be held following the burial at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church-Monsignor Hickey Hall.
In Olive’s memory, donations may be made to the Howard Henderson House, Miramichi or the Diabetes Association.
