Born in Miramichi, he was the son of the late Fred and Annie (Graham) MacLean. He served in the Canadian military, and as a member of the United Nations Emergency Forces in Egypt. After retiring from the military, he operated a garage in Miramichi, worked as a custodian at Miramichi Valley High School, and in his spare time, loved to coach hockey.
Bud enjoyed camping on the weekends with his friends and family at Manderson’s Campground. He loved attending the local hockey games and he had a passion for gardening which transferred into the kitchen with many delicious creations. Bud loved fishing, hunting and woodworking, building beautiful pieces over the years.
He will be greatly missed by his wife Doris (Johnston) MacLean; his children Rick (Norma), Randy (Raylene) of Miramichi; grandchildren Ashley (Jake) of Quispamsis, Alexandra (Doug) of Saskatchewan, Andrew (Whitney) of Ontario, Keitha (Brad) of Miramichi, Kris (Jessi) of Miramichi, and; great grandchildren Aubrey, Buddy, Ella, Elijah, Kaydren, Abry, Waverly and Haisley; brothers Ronnie (Judy) of Nelson, Reggie (Lois) of Nelson, Ralph (Theresa) of Ontario, Bobby (Linda) of Chatham Head, David (Theresa) of Newcastle, and Paul of Newcastle as well as several nieces and nephews; First cousin and loyal, caring friend Dorothy Mullin (Gary).He is predeceased by his brother Wayne (Vicky).
The family would like to extend its appreciation to Dr. Pehlivan, the Extra Mural staff, Hospice Miramichi, all the homecare workers, especially Karen Coughlan who went above and beyond to provide compassionate care to Bud in his final hours.
In keeping with Fred’s wishes, cremation will take place at Miramichi Crematorium. The funeral service will be held from Jardine Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, August 21, 2023, at 11 AM with Rev. Alice Szemök officiating. Burial will follow in the Miramichi Cemetery.
