Obituaries

The death of Marie “Norma” Matheson wife of Douglas Matheson of Maple Glen, NB, occurred on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at the Miramichi Hospital at the age of 80.  Born in Eel River, NB, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Melena (Martin) McIntyre.  Norma was a retired RNA who worked at the Halifax Infirmery and Mount St. Joseph Nursing Home.  She was also owner/operator of Parkview Coffee Shop.  She enjoyed gardening and watching all different sports including her much loved Toronto Blue Jays.
Besides her husband, Norma is survived by children: Jackie White (Gary) of Bellefond, NB; Bruce Matheson (Colleen) of Fort St. John, BC; Dawn Matheson (Darrell) of Slave Lake, AB; Paula Sturgeon (Mark) of Point aux Carr, NB; Jeffrey Matheson (Karra) of High Level, AB; siblings: Omer (Noella), Arnold, Kathleen (Daniel Vigneault); Florent (Madeline), Denis (Joahne); Kathria (Steve Janusas); Angella (Jean Claude Beaulieu); Michael (Jeanne), Stella (Patrick), Charlene (Gérald Daigle); brothers-in-law: Raymond Skidd and Jean Claude St. Croix; grandchildren: Matthew, Phillip, Alex, Jessica, Ryan, Hillary, Aidan, Robert, Thomas, Abigail, Cassidy and Hayden; great grandchildren: Dio, Kyler, Grace, Henry and Nolan as well as many nieces and nephews.  
Besides her parents, Norma is predeceased by infant sisters (6 months), Aldine (2 years); sisters: Louella and Mary Rita; sister-in-law: Beverley.
At the request of the family there will be no visitation.  A public funeral service will be held from Jardine Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, September 11, 2023 at 2 PM with Father Antonio Reyes officiating.  Burial will follow in the Miramichi Cemetery.
