Obituaries

The death of Marie Therèse Valeda (Godin) Ramsay wife of the late Perley Ramsay of Miramichi, NB, occurred on at the Miramichi Hospital on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at the age of 92. Born in Fairisle, NB, she was the daughter of the late Jean Baptiste and Veronique (Breau) Godin. Valeda was retired from housekeeping at the Journey’s Inn, she was catholic by faith and enjoyed bingo, playing cards, knitting, sewing and was a great quilt maker.
Valeda is survived by daughters: Diana Butler (Kenneth), Gail Hamilton (Don), Joyce Bryenton (Ron Savoy); Joanne Hawkyard (Paul); sons: Brian, Freddie (Shelley); Randolph and Blair all of Miramichi, NB; sister: Emma Sant and brothers: Emile Godin (Germaine) and Leon Godin all of Ontario; Ronnie (Gayle) of Miramichi, NB; 11 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she is predeceased by sisters: Aurora Vienneau, Alvina Schlieper, Marcella Stenseth, Audrey Coady and brother: Alyre Godin.
At the request of the family there will be no visitation, a private funeral service will be held at a later date. Burial will take place in St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Cemetery.
